HAWXX Release New Video for “Sacred Water” as UK Headline Tour Begins

London progressive punk-metal trio HAWXX have released a new video for “Sacred Water”, taken from their second full-length album, The World Splits Open, released on 26 June.

The track explores humanity’s increasingly damaged relationship with water and the natural world. For vocalist Annouli Papadimitriou, the subject is particularly personal, having lived on a boat on the River Lea and witnessed the impact of raw sewage being discharged into the community.
“Sacred Water” opens and closes with words from the traditional Greek island song “Thalassaki”, connecting the band's alternative metal and punk sound with Annouli’s Greek heritage. The accompanying video features dancer Lucia Tong, whose performance represents nature and the process of contamination.
The song was recorded live in one take at Middle Farm Studios in Devon with producer Peter Miles, reflecting the raw, collective approach HAWXX took across The World Splits Open.
The ten-track album combines alternative metal, punk and traditional Greek music while tackling themes of resistance, grief, ecological catastrophe, queer love and hope.
Now, with the new video out, HAWXX are taking the album on the road with their UK headline tour, which kicks off tonight in Sheffield and runs through to 29 October, finishing at Signature Brew Haggerston in London.
