The Italian doom metal innovators return to European stages this October, bringing The Spin to life alongside special guests The Night Eternal, with five UK shows scheduled for November with London already Sold Out.

Italian doom metal outfit MESSA are just days away from kicking off their European headline tour, bringing their distinctive blend of crushing riffs, haunting melodies and dark atmospheres to stages across the continent.

Joining them will be fellow Metal Blade Records artists The Night Eternal, making this an intriguing double bill for fans of doom, gothic rock and traditional heavy metal.

The tour begins in Marseille on 27 October, travelling through Spain and France before reaching the UK for five consecutive shows in Glasgow, Manchester, Nottingham, Bristol and London. From there, the bands will continue across mainland Europe, wrapping up in Italy on 21 November.

MESSA: The Spin and a New Sonic Direction

Released in 2025 through Metal Blade Records, The Spin marked another significant step forward for the Italian quartet. Building on the foundations of their previous albums Belfry (2016), Feast for Water (2018) and Close (2022), MESSA ventured further into gothic rock, darkwave and 1980s-inspired sounds without abandoning their unmistakable doom metal identity.

Led by the captivating vocals of Sara Bianchin, the band's sound continues to move effortlessly between delicate, jazz-influenced passages, hypnotic melodies and towering walls of distortion.

Singles including "At Races", "The Dress", "Reveal" and "Fire on the Roof" offer different glimpses into the album's rich musical landscape, where classic heavy metal meets the darker textures of bands such as The Sisters of Mercy and Killing Joke.

More recently, MESSA released "At Races (Cold Cave Remix)", a collaboration with American darkwave project Cold Cave that transforms the original track into a haunting, synth-driven experience.

The Night Eternal: Cold Velvet Brings a Darker Edge

Joining MESSA on the road are German heavy metallers The Night Eternal, who arrive armed with their latest studio album, Cold Velvet, released on 21 August 2026 via Metal Blade Records.

Following the success of Moonlit Cross (2021) and Fatale (2023), the new eight-track record builds upon the band's love of classic 1970s and 1980s heavy metal, combining soaring vocals, melodic twin-guitar passages and a distinctly gothic atmosphere.

The singles "Where This World Ends", "Caught In A Spell" and "The Veins of Time" showcase the band's ability to balance traditional heavy metal energy with a darker, melancholic edge, while tracks such as "Eurydice (Don't Look Back)" further explore their melodic sensibilities.

Having previously shared stages with the likes of Blind Guardian, Michael Schenker Group and Angel Witch, The Night Eternal are no strangers to European audiences.

Their pairing with MESSA feels particularly fitting. Two bands approaching heavy music from different directions, yet united by a fascination with atmosphere, melody and darkness.
