Southampton, prepare for a rather different kind of departure. Lamb of God are bringing Headbangers Boat to Europe for the first time in May 2028, taking their floating metal festival from the UK to A Coruña, Spain, with two headline performances and a growing bill of heavy company.

Sailing aboard Norwegian Jewel from 27–31 May 2028, the four-night event marks Headbangers Boat’s fifth voyage, following four editions departing from Miami. Organised with music cruise specialists Sixthman, its first European itinerary puts the South Coast at the centre of a particularly loud maritime adventure.

The destination feels appropriate. A Coruña sits within reach of Galicia’s Costa da Morte — the Coast of Death — whose name owes rather more to storms and shipwrecks than blastbeats. Further along the coast lies Cape Finisterre, traditionally associated with the edge of the known world. A fitting backdrop, then, for a holiday hosted by Lamb of God.

Two Lamb of God sets and a heavy first wave

Lamb of God will play twice during the voyage, leading a bill that already stretches across groove metal, deathcore, hardcore and industrial sludge.

The first confirmed guests are:

  • Paleface Swiss

  • Bleed From Within

  • Kublai Khan TX

  • Shadows Fall

  • Heriot

More bands will be announced in the coming weeks.

There is plenty of potential damage in that opening selection. Paleface Swiss and Kublai Khan TX bring the breakdowns, while Bleed From Within arrive with the combination of muscular grooves and soaring melodies that makes them such a formidable live prospect. Shadows Fall add veteran New Wave of American Heavy Metal pedigree, with Heriot supplying the industrial menace and abrasive weight.

Beyond the stage

The programme also includes activities hosted and curated by members of Lamb of God, giving passengers something to do between sets beyond discussing which band just flattened them.

Randy Blythe will take part in an in-depth conversation and Q&A, while drummer Art Cruz delivers a “Heavy In The Mix” DJ set. The Headbangers Poker Tournament offers the chance to win a seat at the final table with bassist John Campbell.

Metal trivia, karaoke and a merchandise swap are also planned, alongside the ship’s restaurants, bars, pools, hot tubs and other facilities. All presale bookings include an exclusive onboard photo opportunity with Lamb of God.

From Southampton to Galicia

For UK fans, the Southampton departure brings Headbangers Boat considerably closer to home. For those travelling from further afield, it also offers the chance to spend some time on the South Coast before boarding.

The Spanish port of call is A Coruña, where passengers can explore the Old Town, visit the Tower of Hercules or work through some Galician seafood before returning to the ship. Excursions will become available to reserve approximately four to six weeks before departure, once passengers have received their official booking numbers.

Two Lamb of God sets, four nights at sea and a course towards the Coast of Death. Southampton has seen plenty of departures, but few with a soundtrack quite like this.
