Grit, groove and no concessions: Torus raises the stakes with “Ruby Red”

Milton Keynes hard rock outfit Torus are back with “Ruby Red”, a hard-hitting new single that reinforces everything the band stands for: weight, drive and an unapologetically direct approach. Built on thick guitars and a tense, grounded groove, the track underlines their commitment to impact over excess.

Earlier this year, Torus caught wider attention with a powerful cover of Billie Eilish’s “Ocean Eyes”, reimagined with restraint and atmosphere rather than bombast. That release was followed by unexpected controversy when an early preview of the cover was allegedly used by a third party to generate a full AI-made version and upload it to Spotify — a situation the band publicly challenged, adding their voice to the ongoing debate around AI, authorship and artistic ownership.

Darker and more focused than their previous material, the track reinforces the band’s commitment to heavy riffs and a direct, no-frills approach. Torus continues to carve out a sound defined by muscle, momentum and grit, aligning naturally with how outlets like Kerrang! and Classic Rock have described their work — hard rock built on substance, not spectacle.

The band will play a hometown show in Milton Keynes on April 10, followed by two London dates:

April 30th – New Cross Inn

May 1st – Lion’s Den

With momentum firmly on their side, Torus are shaping a catalogue that favours weight, conviction and clarity — hard rock that hits first and explains itself later.
