Six years after Boneshaker, Airbourne are officially back in business. The Australian hard rock powerhouse has announced its brand new studio album, a self-titled record simply called Airbourne, set for release on August 28 via Spinefarm Records.

Leading the charge is the first single, Alive After Death (Last Plane Out), a track that keeps their formula intact: straight-up hard rock, razor-sharp riffs, and that unmistakable spirit somewhere between Motörhead and AC/DC that has always defined Joel O'Keeffe and company.

The band also accompanied the announcement with a heartfelt tribute to Lemmy Kilmister, making it clear that their DNA remains deeply rooted in that old-school, no-frills rock ’n’ roll ethos.

The album title itself feels symbolic. Calling it simply Airbourne sounds like a statement of intent — a reset, a return to basics, and a reminder of exactly who they are. If this first single is any indication, they are not here to reinvent themselves, but to remind everyone why they remain one of the strongest names in modern hard rock.

And 2026 will not just be about the album — it is shaping up to be one of their busiest touring years in a long time.

The band are set to appear at major European festivals including Wacken Open Air and Motocultor Festival, while also landing one of the summer’s biggest support slots: joining Iron Maiden at EddFest in Knebworth on July 11 as part of Maiden’s Run For Your Lives World Tour, alongside The Darkness and The Hu.

They will also be opening for Judas Priest on the band’s massive Faithkeepers European run, including the two huge Spanish dates: August 18 at Navarra Arena in Pamplona and August 20 at Roig Arena in Valencia, both with Dirkschneider also on the bill.

That combination says everything: festivals, stadium support slots, and heavyweight arena tours with absolute legends of the genre.

Sometimes the best move is not evolution — it is doubling down on what made people care in the first place. In 2026, Airbourne seem ready to do exactly that.
